Restored to like-original specs in 2019, this Nova retains the model’s optimal power package: a matching-numbers L78 396 CI V-8 engine. Rated at 375 HP, this was the most powerful engine offered for this model off the assembly line, and it required a lot of driver respect, perhaps one reason some of these cars ended up, shall we say, worse for wear. Behind the engine is an M21 4-speed transmission and a differential with a 3.55 Positraction gear. The body features original sheet metal and mostly original components with some NOS replacements.
As a premium SS model, inside this car was optioned with factory bucket seats, factory console with gauges, Hurst floor shifter, an original AM radio with 8-track player and pedal dress-ups. Complementary external and internal color choices and trim are as offered by GM, with the SS cues and 396 emblems denoting this car’s packaging.
