Under the hood is a 454 CI V-8 crate engine with fewer than 100 miles on it linked to a Monster 700R transmission sending power to the rear wheels. A new 12-bolt Positraction rear end with 3.73 gears helps give the lightweight Nova a launch like few others. The 454 is fitted with many new parts including a high-torque starter, distributor, wires and plugs. It’s fed by dual 4-barrel carburetors and breathes through stainless Doug’s Headers connected to 3-inch stainless pipes and mufflers. A new aluminum radiator and dual electric fans keeps everything running cool. The chassis has been dialed in to harness all the power with frame extenders and traction bars, new tubular A-arms, new leaf springs, new sway bars, new QA1 adjustable front and rear shocks, new front disc brakes and new tires wrapping new original-style wheels.
The black interior looks like it popped out of the sales brochure, complete with bucket seats and a center console with a floor-mounted shifter and new factory-style gauges. Interestingly, despite the work afforded this Resto Mod Nova, the original date-coded glass remains, as do the original felt liners between the glass; it also retains its factory door panels, headliner and padded dash. Equipped with power steering and brakes, a tilt steering column makes ingress-egress a thing of simplicity. The new bumpers gleam against the fresh Black Cherry color, which was original to the car. Showing 54,600 miles on the odometer, this Nova is a fantastic blend of new and original, tempered with a healthy dose of power and control.
