Beneath the hood today is a modern powerplant and associated driveline components, as well as suspension upgrades. This car received a professionally built LS conversion and features the Corvette LS2 heads, a cold-air intake, a camshaft upgrade, headers and dual exhaust with cut-outs for an estimated 450 HP. Behind it is the 4L60 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission and 12-bolt Positraction differential. Among the suspension upgrades are tubular A-arms up front and F41 heavy-duty components including front and rear sway bars. Power steering and 4-wheel power disc brakes aid maneuverability, and the Chevelle has been driven only test miles since the restoration. The car has been painted in Deep Cranberry Red paint with white SS stripes, which is complemented well by the matching white interior and convertible top. Inside there are headrest-style bucket seats and a center console with the horseshoe shifter. This car also features power windows, a power convertible top, a tilt column with sport steering wheel, upgraded radio by Hermosa Retro sound system and Vintage Air conditioning. Dakota Digital gauges are reworked into the factory dash configuration, and the car features American Autowire wiring. Attractive SS equipment is found on the body as well, including the cowl induction hood with hold-down pins, SS emblems in the grille, fenders and a rear blackout panel. The only obvious clue that the car is not stock are the 17-inch 5-spoke design wheels, larger than the original 14-inch versions, wearing up-to-date Goodyear 245/45R/17 radial tires. Inside and out, detailing on this car has resulted in the look and feel of something treasured. Built to run with its modern engine and overdrive gearing, this is a car to enjoy with the top-down on the open road.
