The rotisserie-restored convertible is powered today by its matching-numbers 428 Cobra Jet big-block that develops 335 HP thanks to a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, 427-style cylinder heads, 390 GT cam and free-flowing exhaust manifolds. The big-block is nicely detailed with the correct early production chrome valve covers, chrome air-cleaner lid, Thermactor emissions pump and canister, hoses and wire clamps, Ford Corporate Blue paint, chalk marks and engine compartment decals. With the 428, the Mustang was prepped from the factory for all-out performance with the Competition Suspension and Ford’s strongest 9-inch rear end with 3.50 gears. Body-color steel wheels with hubcaps and white-letter Goodyear Polyglas tires, along with turn-down exhaust tips tucked behind the rear valance, give the car a sleeker look.
The only item that alludes to the Mustang’s performance potential is the non-functional hood scoop adorned with 428 Cobra Jet emblems. The convertible is also equipped with dual racing mirrors, a white convertible top, top boot and bucket seats with headrests. You can’t beat this one-of-one Cobra Jet-powered convertible for top-down fun combined with muscle car performance.
