1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 375 HP V-8 engine

Description

396/375 HP V-8 engine
Winters aluminum cylinder heads and intake manifold
4-barrel carburetor
Dual exhaust
Correct Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission
4.11 Positraction 12 bolt rear end
Power steering
Power brakes with front discs
Factory Tuxedo Black car
Black bucket seats and center console
Laser straight body
SS wheels and Redline tires
Although it was factory-rated at 375 HP, it produced in excess of 425 HP. Chevrolet purposely down-graded the horsepower output figures in order to both comply with an internal corporate edict to limit advertised performance as well as in an attempt to limit unwanted visibility from the insurance companies. This car is also fitted with Winters aluminum cylinder heads and manifold. This change results in an 85-pound weight reduction to the entire engine assembly and a lowered center of gravity, which together contribute to better acceleration, braking and handling. It is also equipped with the SS equipment package, which includes the styled steel wheels, SS badging on the front fenders, grille and rear decklid, twin simulated hood scoops and blacked-out grille and rear trunk trim area above the bumper.
