1968 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible hood tach

Description

The white interior is completely original and looks beautiful. Seats are clean and have no rips or tears. Original AM-FM stereo with front and rear speakers work perfectly. Factory AC and heat work as well. Factory hood tach works perfectly and is a very rare option — most hood tachs were aftermarket add-ons. Power steering, power brakes, wood steering wheel with tilt. Reclining passenger seat and much more

On the road, this car is smooth, quiet and refined, as a big Bonneville should be yet, she can move along very quickly in any gear when tested. She starts right up, idles steady and is very responsive when pushed. Stopping is not a problem at any speed. There is no pulling on or off the brakes. The cabin is quiet with no rattles or unwanted noises. Its all you’d want and expect from a big GM cruiser.

Plenty of documentation accompanies this Bonneville, including PHS documentation. Other documentation includes the Original Owners manuals, Owner ID, Warranty info, Original Sales Contract and Build Sheet.

These big muscle car cruisers do not come along very often. This is a real deal matching numbers 428ci engine with the paperwork to back it up. “RARE” is an understatement for this car.

1968 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible
Matching Numbers 428ci engine, Factory 4 speed & Safe-T-Track rear.

Factory A/C and Factory Hood Tachometer

Just about any muscle car in the 60s could be ordered with a 4-speed transmission, but rarely was it ordered for a Bonneville. How rare is it? According to PHS documentation, more than 104,000 Bonnevilles (model 262) were made in 1968. Of those, only 7358 were convertibles and just 208 were convertibles with a 428ci engine and 4-speed transmission.

The engine is a matching numbers (WG code) 428ci 375hp engine (Rochester 4 barrel carburetor), original 4speed M code transmission and Safe-T-Track (posi) rear. Its all here!

The rust free body is in excellent condition with no dings or dents. All chrome and trim shine like new with no pitting. Body panels are straight, rust free and all original. It has had a high end repaint in its original color of Meridian Turquoise. The white power top is very clean and has the optional glass rear window. Optional body colored side molding and optional cornering lights add to this cars class and appeal.
