Description

L79 327/325 HP engine

Grotto Blue and Black vinyl roof
Blue bench seat interior
Cragar wheels with Firestone Redline tires

As most enthusiasts know, the SS tag was still reserved for 396-powered Chevelle releases this model year, but the L79 is no slouch. Having been super-tuned with performance parts from Nickey, modified from its as-built status at Nickey with an aluminum intake and Holley 4-barrel carb to add horsepower, and retaining the original Nickey signature white headers to this day, the word screamer might aptly sum this powerplant up. Backing up the detailed engine is a Muncie 4-speed transmission and the original KK-code 4.10 Positraction 12-bolt rear end that was upgraded with a Nickey performance gearset. Painted Grotto Blue with a black vinyl roof, the car almost has the look of innocence, with mild exterior chrome and a blue bench-seat interior thatĀ hosts a Hurst T-handle shifter, column-mount Sun Super Tach, underdash gauging and a pushbutton radio. Those in the know take fair warning from Cragar SS wheels with Firestone redline tires and multiple Nickey dealership identification labels on the exterior.
