The only known 427/435 HP-equipped convertible in its unique combination of Sunfire Yellow with a white interior, this special-order 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible was awarded highly coveted Bloomington Gold Survivor status in 2012. Identified by its triangular chromed air cleaner and its row of three 2-barrel Holley carburetors, the L71 427/435 HP-powered 1967 Corvette is revered by collectors as one of the greatest ever. Big-block power was nothing new in the Corvette by 1967, having been introduced in 1965 with the L78 396/425 HP V-8 and succeeded by the L72 427/425 HP version the following year. Like those two engines, the L71 was built for both power and durability, with a sturdy reinforced block containing 4-bolt mains holding a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, forged aluminum domed pistons
