This model year also brought forth the release of the brand’s latest powerplant design, a 430 CI engine rated at 360 HP, more than capable of propelling the machine into the triple digits if the open road (or a young punk) beckoned a response. Matching numbers to the machine here, it is topped with a unique space-age-themed air cleaner over the 4-barrel carburetor, as well as valve covers with callout decaling and dual exhaust. An automatic transmission took things from there, with a Positraction differential finishing the job to the rear tires. The sport suspension was also ordered on this car, which has power steering and power brakes. Outside, the GS features a mild rake, squared outside driving lamps and flip-down primary and bright headlights inset into the grille. Add in flamboyant script Riviera lettering with red GS accents, chrome rocker trim, a fastback roof line, jet black paint and what your mother might term “a bad attitude” to complete the theme. Inside are posh bucket seats in vinyl, a center console with horseshoe shifter, factory air conditioning, power windows, locks and seats, a radio and a driver’s side remote mirror. This older restoration rides on premium road wheels with R-logo centers and redline tires. It would be true to say that time was not kind to many of these behemoths, and 1967 Rivieras are not offered regularly.
