This amazing 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible remains unrestored and in astonishing, reference-quality condition, retaining its original Rally Red paint, black leather interior, white soft top, chrome and stainless trim. The original matching-numbers L72 427/425 HP Mark IV big-block V-8 engine is also retained, along with the car’s Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed manual transmission and 4.11:1 Positraction rear end. By 1966, the change from fuel-injected small-blocks to Mark IV big-block power at the top of Corvette’s engine lineup was complete. Two versions of the bored-out 427 were offered: the hydraulic-cam L36 rated at 390 HP, and the L78, which was deceptively rated at the same 425 HP as the 396 CI version it replaced.
