1965 Plymouth Belvedere 426 CI Hemi V-8 engine

Description

This sweet ride has a little bit of all of that, the first piece being the 426 CI Hemi V-8 engine under the hood. Built by legendary mechanic Jake King, this powerhouse features offset Holley carbs, a cross-ram intake, and chrome valve covers and headers. A modern radiator helps cool it, with upgrades to the ignition as well. Behind this is a Chrysler 4-speed manual transmission and a chrome-cover Dana 60 rear end with Strange axles. The steel body began as a street car, but the rear wheels were moved ahead 6 inches and the front wheels were moved 2 inches for better weight transfer. A unique lightweight K-frame with aluminum fasteners assists in all of this. Helping drop more weight are acid-dipped bumpers with aluminum brackets, thin Corning glass and even aluminum window crank mechanisms and door hinges. A signature A990 design hood scoop completes the look, but nobody is guessing after seeing the racing rear suspension and wheelie bars, massive rear tires, and ignition cut-off from behind.
Inside, black bucket seats with wide belts, a custom dash with gauges, a Hurst shifter and a toggle switch panel are complemented by a custom rear covering over the tinwork.
