With 271 HP, the HiPo V-8 took the Mustang from pony car to muscle car and added the mandatory 4-speed transmission, 9-inch rear end with 3.89 gears and the Special Handling Package. This Raven Black 1964½ convertible was built at Ford’s San Jose assembly plant on July 20, 1964, making it one of the earliest known K-code convertible. The Mustang was recently restored, and the sheet metal is original with the exception of an NOS driver’s-side quarter panel. New components include shocks, rear leaf springs, gaskets and seals, and glass with the correct Carlite date stampings.
