1964 Ford Galaxie 500 R-code 427/425 HP engine

Description

R-code 427/425 HP engine
Dual 4-barrel carburetors
4-speed transmission
Frame-off restoration
Red exterior with Red bench seat interior
Factory 4.11 gears
Dog Dish wheels
Equipped with the Rally Pac fitted with a clock and an 8,000 RPM redline tachometer, it’s obvious this car was all about moving very, very quickly. Introduced in mid-1963, the fastback-styled Galaxies helped bolster Ford’s “Total Performance” advertising campaign of the day, and as it would be, 1963 was one of Ford’s most successful years in racing. By 1964, word was out that customers could have a full-size Galaxie in two-door, four-door or convertible form with the ground-pounding, high-revving, race-engineered 427 CI V-8 engine, and it truly helped to spice up Ford’s overall image with performance seekers. "Motor Trend" magazine recorded a dual-quad, 427 Galaxie with 0-60 MPH times of 6.9 seconds, quarter-mile times in the low 14s, and a top speed of a whopping 135 MPH. Swap out the rear gears for something more like this Galaxie has and certainly the sprint times will drop.
