1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window Coupe 360 HP V-8 engine

Description

Fuel-injected 327/360 HP V-8 engine
4-speed manual transmission
Power windows
Tuxedo Black with Saddle interior
Full size wheel covers
Blackwall tires
AM radio
This feature was a source of contention between Mitchell, engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov and GM brass. Arkus-Duntov hated the split window, which completely blocked the view to the rear, while management pointed to the extra cost of incorporating this detail. In the end, Mitchell was overridden, but not before the design made it to the market in 1963, creating one of the most collectible and coveted Corvettes in the model’s history, one represented here in this award-winning split window coupe. Of course, the Sting Ray’s unique styling was not its only strength; it was the first Corvette with all-independent suspension, and the engine choices carried over from 1962 included this car’s potent 327/360 HP small-block V-8 boasting Rochester mechanical fuel injection, which was available only with the requisite 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in Tuxedo Black with a Saddle interior, just as it was originally, this example is optioned with power windows, full-size wheel covers with blackwall tires and an AM radio.
