Detailed throughout
Body-color headlight surrounds replaced the former chromed units; deletion of the body-side cove border strips, new fine-toothed side-scoop inserts and cleaner rocker-panel moldings contributed further to the subtle makeover, and interior changes were limited to revised seat upholstery and interior door panels. The most important advancement was under the hood in the form of the new 327 CI V-8 engine, a bored and stroked version of the 283 that finally gave buyers the power that Rodders and racers had been extracting from the Chevrolet small-block since the late 1950s. Dual carburetion was dropped in favor of larger-bore Carter 4-barrels or Rochester fuel injection. A new, longer-duration hydraulic cam, small-valve cylinder heads and 10.5:1 compression gave the base Corvette engine 250 HP; a higher-flow Carter 4-barrel delivered an extra 50 HP in the optional RPO 583 version, but the hot carbureted choice shared the higher-compression, large-valve heads and solid-lifter “Duntov” cam to deliver 340 HP at a shrieking 6,000 RPM. Recently refreshed and detailed throughout, this 1962 Corvette convertible retains its matching-numbers 327/340 HP small-block V-8, here mated to the correct T-10 4-speed manual transmission. Beautifully finished in Roman Red paint with a black interior and Wonderbar radio
