1959 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible 389ci Tempest 420 V8 engine

Description

The 1959 model year saw the introduction of Pontiac’s Wide-Track chassis, and the Bonneville received a revised exterior featuring quad headlamps, sloping chrome trim on the sides, and twin-fin rear quarter panels. This example features a power-operated white convertible top, and the body reportedly was refinished in white in the 1990s. According to the Fisher body tag, the car was originally finished in Cameo Ivory (C).

Steel wheels feature full Pontiac-branded covers and wear whitewall tires. Detailed images of the paint and brightwork are provided in the gallery below.

The interior is finished in Jeweltone Maroon and Ivory leather with Mahogany Morrokide accents. Features include “star-fleck” carpeting, a Circ-L-Aire heater and defroster, a padded handrail on the dash, and aluminum seat trim. The selling dealer notes that the radio does not work.

Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for generator status and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows just over 99,700 miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the selling dealer.

The 389ci Tempest 420 V8 engine was rated to produce 300 horsepower and its namesake 420 lb-ft of torque when new.
