Its styling was a major departure from the Tri-Five generation, highlighted by quad headlights, subtle fins and full-length chromed side spears. The new lineup included an addition at the top of the hierarchy, the luxurious Impala. Available only as a two-door hardtop or convertible, the Impala featured unique exterior and interior trim and triple bullet tail lights shrouded in concave panels beneath angled tail fins. To counter the larger Chevrolet’s extra weight, engineers complemented the existing 235 CI inline-6 and 283 CI V-8 with single 4-barrel and triple 2-barrel versions of the 348 CI big-block “W-head” engine, each available with a choice of 9.5:1 or 11.0:1 compression. This 1958 Impala convertible incorporates many optional features available to the Impala buyer that year, including factory air conditioning, cowl-mounted driver’s spotlight, power steering and brakes, fender skirts, spinner wheel covers on wide whitewall tires, and a Continental kit. Faithfully restored to the finest detail, including the correct red-oxide paint on the exterior floors, its Snowcrest White paint is contrasted with a sharp red interior with a matching red convertible top boot. Options here include tinted glass, a power top, pushbutton radio with dual rear antennas, power windows and a power front seat.
