The Porsche 550 Spyder is an unquestioned icon of the automotive industry, known for its incredible record of success on racetracks around the world, as well as being an incredibly fun-to-drive car on the street. As Porsche’s first purpose-built race car, it made an indelible stamp on the international motorsports by winning its class at Le Mans in 1955 and scoring the overall win at the 1956 Targa Florio.
The 550 Spyder regularly defeated cars that raced in higher classifications that were armed with significantly more engine displacement. The 550 Spyder’s signature piece was its racy 4-cam engine, and its legend only grew as famous owners like James Dean competed regularly in this little Porsche.
The recreation was built from original parts procured over many years of searching, with those parts including (but not limited to) the correct, original wiring harness, 60mm front brakes, 40mm rear brakes and correct, original wheels.
