1953 Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupe 4-speed manual gearbox

Description

Chassis was stripped, repaired and painted in Satin Black
Rebuilt twin cam 3.8L inline 6-cylinder engine
Triple SU carburetors
265 HP at 5,500 RPM
4-speed manual gearbox
Double wishbone independent front suspension with torsion bars and anti-roll bar
Live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs
4-wheel hydraulic drum brakes
Black with Red Connolly leather interior
Finished walnut dash
Wilton wool carpets
English wool headliner
Lucas fog lamps
Painted wire wheels
Tool roll, jack and spare
Today’s XK120 drophead coupe, however, offers something rather more. In place of the standard twin-carburetor 3.4L/160 HP straight-6 is the 3.8L version of the famous twin-cam motor with triple SU carbs; that’s the setup that in the E-type produced 265 HP and a heady 150 MPH. Consequently, this XK120 is considerably more spirited than other examples, yet it’s pleasingly standard in presentation. Indeed, the body-color-matched black wire wheels are both more purposeful and proper in appearance than the bejeweled chrome wires seen on so many cars that never left the factory that way. Its appearance is as discrete as the secret under the hood.
